In a tragic turn of events, Moreno Valley became the scene of a deadly hit-and-run last night, according to officials. At approximately 5:57 PM on Monday, December 4, the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station received reports of a severe traffic collision involving a pedestrian at the corner of Old 215 Frontage Road and Bay Avenue, as announced by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
The first responders, deputies from the Sheriff's Station alongside Cal Fire paramedics, arrived promptly at the scene where life-saving efforts were rendered to no avail; the involved pedestrian was pronounced dead at the location, as the report outlined. A preliminary inquiry into the incident revealed that a male pedestrian, who was heading south on Old 215 Frontage Road, was met by a vehicle barreling northbound that collided with him and inflicted fatal wounds, after which the vehicle involved chose to flee the scene rather than provide any assistance or wait for authorities to arrive.
For several hours following the calamity, the stretch of Old 215 Frontage Road from Alessandro Boulevard to Bay Avenue remained sealed off as the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team took charge of the investigation. The identity of the suspect behind the wheel has remained elusive as of yet, and the authorities urge anyone with information pertinent to the collision to reach out to Deputy Glass of the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-486-6700 or to contact dispatch at 951-776-1099.
