The Forever Forest exhibit, a unique experience that dives into the world of forestry and its impact on our daily lives, has landed at the River Legacy Nature Center. This eco-centric showcase, created by the Omaha Children's Museum and backed by big names like Union Pacific and the North American Wholesale Lumber Association, is not your average walk in the park.
It's your chance to play lumberjack for the day, minus the flannel and beard. Visitors can explore hands-on activities ranging from treetops adventure playgrounds to mini Union Pacific engine simulations. And if you're feeling constructive, you can team up, to build a house and get a crash course in all the ways wood shapes our world.
The exhibit isn't just about fun and games, though. "It really teaches our upcoming environmental stewards all about the proper way to sustain our forest, and obviously, what else we receive from them at the same time," Shannon Porter, River Legacy Nature Center's Executive Director, said in a statement. It's designed to educate the youth on the significance of sustainable harvesting and forest preservation, much-needed lessons if we want to keep our planet lush and leafy, per the City of Arlington, Texas.
For those keen on a bit of "tree-spiration," Forever Forest will be standing tall at the nature center from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, until Saturday, Feb. 10.
