It seems a little bit of the Great White North is heading south with its beloved coffee chain. Tim Hortons is poised to pour its first cup of coffee in North Texas by mid-2024, and the town of Coppell is where it all begins. In a move that surely sweetens the deal for dipsomaniacs of doughnuts and fanatics of caffeine, the Canadian franchise is laying down roots in the Lone Star State, according to WFAA.

With groundbreaking expected in March, this coming Tim Hortons is gearing up to bring a taste of the North to Texan tables. The Coppell location will sprawl over a modest but mighty 1,640 square feet at 440 North State Highway 121. Pulling the strings behind this much-anticipated opening are the Lakhany brothers, Ali and Emad, who are no strangers to stirring up the Houston dining scene after debuting the chain's first Texas spot in 2022. "Coppell holds a special place in my journey within the DFW area," Emad Lakhany said. The upcoming opening is expected to dot the i's and cross the t's by the end of next year's second quarter, as per WFAA.

But it doesn't stop there. Ryan Ferranti, Tim Hortons' head of business development, former hockey coach, and all-around Canadian icon, hints that more Timbits and double-doubles are on the horizon for Dallas residents. "We have multiple units headed for Dallas," Ferranti said, per WFAA.

It's a known fact that Tim Hortons has been serving up its hand-dipped and glazed doughnuts as well as its coffee to Canadians for decades, and now it seems the Texans are getting a slice, or should we say, a sip of the action. Since the inaugural Texas shop opened in Katy, the coffee chain has seen a second location pop up in Houston, with the expansion charge showing no signs of slowing. The Lakhanys have even eyed Austin for their next big move, with aspirations to launch upwards of 40 to 50 locations within the next five years, as stated by Audacy.
