Gun-toting drivers in Pasadena found themselves handcuffed and their firearms confiscated by the long arm of the law in two separate traffic stops. In the first case, officers from the Street Crime Unit, vigilant for violations, pulled over a man for a vehicle code infraction. The driver, already on probation for drug offenses, was concealing more than just a shady record. A routine search by the police turned up a loaded semi-automatic, tucked away in the center console – a gun that wasn't registered to the driver, or to anyone else for that matter.
Things didn't end on the street. Cops went to work, diligently tracing the suspect's steps back to his residence. With a search warrant firmly in hand, they began to sift, to rummage decisively through the premises. Their efforts didn't disappoint, unveiling methamphetamine, a quartet of high-capacity magazines both for handguns and rifles, and a stolen vehicle hidden like a dirty secret in the backyard.
The second incident had Patrol Officers spring into action after spotting a vehicle violation. The driver's luck went south when officers found out his license was suspended. But being behind the wheel was the least of his worries. A search under the front passenger seat snared another loaded firearm, just lying in wait. In both instances, the drivers were arrested and faced charges directly linked to their possession of weapons, according to a Facebook post by the Pasadena Police Department.
