Authorities received the call at about 4:15 a.m. Saturday, according to a bulletin released by the Sheriff's Information Bureau. Having been pronounced dead at the scene, the male victim's identity remains undisclosed as detectives scour for clues in an effort to pinpoint a suspect whose motives and whereabouts are unknown.
"Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Detectives are responding to the 1300 block of California Avenue in the city of Compton regarding a shooting death investigation," the Sheriff's Department conveyed in the early reports.
