Got toxic trash? This Saturday, Riverside County's got your back, offering a free household hazardous waste collection in Beaumont. The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources is setting up shop at the Lamb Canyon Sanitary Landfill, where county residents can drop off those pesky pollutants from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., as reported by their official website.
The free cleanup drive is part of the county's plan to keep hazardous waste out of the local landfills and helps ensure safe disposal of items that aren't good for the trash can or the environment. Materials like paint, motor oil, and e-waste, which includes your old TVs and phones, should come down in manageable quantities. It's capped at 15 gallons or 125 pounds per vehicle, and each piece shouldn't go over five gallons or 50 pounds, the department's guidelines stated.
The collection has its limits. It will not accept asbestos or huge gas cylinders. Give the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources a call at (951) 486-3200 or (800) 304-2226 for more information.
