After a public appeal that galvanized community members and law enforcement alike, two missing juveniles, Nevaeh Lorane Martinez and D’Angelo Hill, were found safe, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported. The department extended its gratitude to "the public, the media, Aero Bureau, and deputy personnel for their tireless efforts in the search for D’Angelo and Nevaeh," according to a release hosted on Nixle.
The details surrounding their disappearance began to unfold when the pair were reported missing from the 1000 block of W. 110th Street in the city of Los Angeles. They were last seen on Sunday, December 10, 2023, around midday. The mother, a 13-year-old Hispanic female with a distinguishing tattoo on her left cheek, and her 2-week-old son were believed to have been headed to the East Los Angeles area.
Fears were heightened due to the vulnerability of the missing persons—Martinez, a young teen, just 5'03" tall and weighing 60 pounds, and her infant son, a mere 19 inches long and weighing 10 pounds. Officials and family members expressed deep concern for their well-being, urging anyone with information to step forward and assist in the efforts to bring them home.
Community engagement spread rapidly as the message was amplified by local media, social media, and the efforts of those close to the family. The call to action prompted residents to keep a vigilant eye and to report any leads or sightings directly to the South Los Angeles Station at (323) 820-6775 or anonymously through the "Crime Stoppers" hotline. The department also encouraged people to sign up for "Nixle" alerts, ensuring ongoing updates in real-time.
