San Antonio's food scene is set to expand with the arrival of Pullman Market, anticipated to be the largest culinary market in the Southwest. In the spring of 2024, the former Samuels Glass Co. building at 221 Newell Ave. is to be transformed into a sprawling 40,000-square-foot gastronomic playground. This venue is poised to prominently feature four restaurants, alongside a variety of food-to-go kiosks—a selection meticulously curated to capture the essence of Texas culinary offerings, as reported by KSAT.

Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group, already a notable name in the local San Antonio dining landscape with Ladino, is to serve as the founding partner for this ambitious project. "We are excited to create a new, unique culinary experience that represents all of Texas for locals and travelers alike," Kevin Fink, a partner at Emmer & Rye, told KSAT. The market boasts an intent not just to feed the masses but also to foster closer connections with local food producers, normally a privilege reserved for upscale eateries and weekend farmers markets.

Among the four full-service restaurants, patrons will find Fife & Farro, a spot that does not require reservations and prides itself on homemade pizza and pasta. Mezquite is set to introduce diners to the flavors of Sonora, Mexico, complete with a mezcal bar. Isidore promises an "elevated dining experience" with a menu that changes regularly and requires reservations. Lastly, dessert aficionados can look forward to Nicosi, an intimate 18-seat dessert bar curated by award-winning pastry chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph, notable for its no-phone policy, as elaborated on Pullman Market's website.

With an emphasis on inclusivity and convenience, Pullman Market is also catering to the grab-and-go crowd, offering a wide array of quick bites, including burgers, ice cream, tacos, sandwiches, and ceviche. Moreover, a seasonal bakery and fresh pasta program are on the agenda, ensuring that patrons can quickly grab a meal or sit down to relish in the diverse tastes of Texas. "Pullman Market is a place to celebrate all things food. You can grab a quick bite or stay awhile at one of our restaurants. You can discover high-quality ingredients for dinner or grab something premade to make mealtime easy," Fink explained in a statement obtained by KSAT.
