El Segundo is set to welcome a new addition to its burgeoning coffee scene as Silverback Coffee of Rwanda opens its second location at 360 N Pacific Coast Hwy. This Rwandan coffee roaster has begun to slowly expand its footprint on the Los Angeles coffee landscape. According to an Instagram post from @silverbackcoffee, the El Segundo community is eagerly anticipating the grand opening.

Jack Karuletwa, the founder of Silverback Coffee, has set a mission to not only offer a cup of coffee but also to help give back to his community in Rwanda. Silverback Coffee has chosen to actively engage in social responsibility by donating a portion of its profits to educational and support initiatives in Rwanda.

Silverback Coffee is exclusively grown on small farms across multiple regions known for their optimal coffee-growing conditions. These regions include the Virunga Mountain Region, Akagera Region, Kivu Lave Region, Kizi Rift Valley Region, and the Muhazi Lake Region—areas blessed with volcanic soils, plentiful rainfall, and high-altitude mountains.

To extend its social impact further, Silverback has partnered up with several organizations. One such partnership is with Gorilla Doctors, a group dedicated to conserving mountain and eastern lowland gorillas. Additionally, the company works with Foundation Rwanda to fund education for children born from the 1994 genocide and with the University of Global Health Equity, a health sciences university located in Rwanda. These collaborations, as described on What Now Los Angeles, demonstrate Silverback's commitment to weaving a thread of philanthropy through the fabric of their business model.
