A booze bandit with a shopping cart full of pilfered liquor led Simi Valley cops on a wild chase last Sunday, police said. The theft occurred at the Rite-Aid on 5845 Los Angeles Avenue at around 3:02 PM, where the suspect was spotted commandeering a cart with approximately 20 bottles of alcohol and other items, according to the Simi Valley Police Department.

Officers quickly got on the suspect's tail near Los Angeles Avenue and Stow Street, but the crook took off on foot, outrunning law enforcement before disappearing into the 2000 block of Kingman Avenue. Swiftly setting up a perimeter, the cops locked down the neighborhood, and a reverse 911 call warned locals to bunker down in their homes.

With the search intensifying, two canine units roamed yard after yard, but despite their efforts, the suspect gave them the slip and remained at large.
