A lucky Texan from Spring is the latest addition to the millionaire's club after scooping a $1 million prize in the Mega Millions lottery, as reported by FOX 26 Houston. Opting for anonymity, the winner struck gold with a quick pick ticket bought at Hardin Store Express in Magnolia.
The numbers drawn on December 1 aligned like the stars for the Spring resident, hitting all five white ball figures (12-47-49-52-65), short of the Mega Ball number for the jackpot. According to the Texas Lottery Commission, the ticketholder's fortune was twofold, bagging an additional, albeit modest, win on the same piece of paper. Lottery officials did not disclose when exactly the claim was made, but the ear-to-ear grinning winner stepped forward this week to collect the hefty sum.
In a storyline that seems to be unfolding with increasing frequency across Texas, another Spring resident has followed suit, with their own million-dollar winning ticket from a Mega Millions drawing announced earlier. The purchase point for their stroke of luck was the same Hardin Store Express located at 28303 Dobbin Huffsmith Road, Magnolia, TX, according to MySA.
The game's jackpot was a cool $20 million as of Tuesday, December 12. Nevertheless, the winner missed the ultimate prize by just one number—the elusive Mega Ball. Texas seems to be on a winning streak, with Spring's news breaking just a day after two other Texans from Fritsch and Mesquite netted $1 million each from a scratch-off called Millionaire Maker. With the festive season upon us, these winnings could have come from tickets gifted as Christmas presents, though the Texas Lottery cautions against giving them to minors in a bid to combat underage gambling.
