Tarrant County Public Health Launches New Immunization Clinic in Arlington for Enhanced AccessSource: City of Arlington, Texas

Tarrant County Public Health has made a strategic move, setting up shop at a new Arlington location within the confines of the Arlington Fire Department's building on South Cooper Street. The relocation, which took effect on September 25, aims to make low-cost immunizations even more accessible for residents who need them, according to the City of Arlington, Texas.

As part of an interlocal agreement, this cooperative venture between Tarrant County and the City of Arlington brought about the shift of public health services. In a bid to enhance community health initiatives, this Arlington site offers vaccines for both children and adults and taps into low-cost or no-cost vaccine programs as a boon for qualified individuals. Previously, the Arlington Fire Department played a pivotal role in the area's health services, administering over 233,440 COVID-19 shots since 2021 before ceasing vaccine distribution on August 30, 2023, ahead of the Tarrant County takeover.

Emphasizing the benefits of this new partnership, Assistant Fire Chief Gerald Randall remarked on the potential for increased service accessibility and emphasized opportunities for collaboration, "This agreement is designed to provide Arlington residents with increased accessibility to services offered by Tarrant County Public Health and create opportunities for ongoing collaboration between the County and the City related to improving public health within the community," as reported by the City of Arlington, Texas.

With the opening of the new clinic on Cooper Street, Tarrant County Public Health decided to close its former Southeast Public Health Center at 536 W. Randol Mill Road in Arlington. The Arlington Fire Department, halting its COVID-19 immunization services, will continue to operate EMS services within the shared space. For folks in the hunt for immunization services, they can head to the Tarrant County Public Health website, or ring them at 817-248-6299.
