In a tense domestic showdown on Christmas Eve, two brothers in Vallejo were arrested after a family dispute escalated into gunfire. According to the Vallejo Police Department, the incident unfolded just as the sun set around 7:00 P.M., when residents on the 2000th block of Garnet Drive were alarmed by shots fired inside a neighborhood home.
The disturbance was reportedly between the siblings during a physical confrontation. In what seems to have been a moment fueled by unchecked tempers, the younger brother, already on felony probation and forbidden to so much as even to touch a firearm, decided to fire multiple shots within the walls of their home dangerously.
Upon arrival, police conducted a records check on the disputing brothers. With no warrants or probation on his record, the older brother's past did not suggest such a breach of the peace. Nonetheless, when police ordered the occupants out, both brothers initially refused to comply with law enforcement's demands.
Eventually, the elder sibling attempted to flee on foot only to be swiftly apprehended stealthily. It was behind a bush at the back of the residence that the younger brother was found hiding. In a struggle that ensued during his arrest, he went on to assault an officer. A sweep of the property led to the finding of an unregistered firearm, believed to have been used in the dispute, which was subsequently seized as evidence.
Both brothers were booked into the county jail on multiple charges following the Christmas Eve uproar. Despite the alarming nature of the call, the Vallejo Police Department reported that no serious injuries were sustained by the officer or any other person involved.
