A grim scene unfolded in Victorville this week as a man found with a critical stab wound in a Rite Aid parking lot succumbed to his injuries. The victim, identified as 63-year-old Charles Malone, was discovered unconscious in his vehicle on Monday, deputies said.
Authorities responded to the emergency call at approximately 6:25 p.m. on December 11, according to a press release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department. On arrival, they found Malone with a torso wound. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Malone was later pronounced dead, the department statement detailed.
The murder case sparked an immediate investigation by the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division—Homicide Detail. Investigators determined that the stabbing took place at a residence in the 15800 block of Papago Place in Victorville, after which Malone managed to drive to the nearby Rite Aid.
After a swift inquiry, investigators pinpointed Christina Correa, a 35-year-old Victorville resident, as the suspect. Correa was subsequently arrested and is now being held without bail at the High Desert Detention Center. The circumstances surrounding the stabbing, however, remain unclear and the investigation continues.
