A tragic mishap in St. Clair County over the weekend left one person dead and two others injured after a truck careened into a pond, authorities reported. The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office announced that responders hurried to the crash site near Bordman and Wales Ridge roads around 9 p.m. Sunday when the catastrophe was reported, as detailed by the Detroit News.
Officials narrated the sequence of events: a 2003 Ford F-250 was heading west on Bordman Road before it lost control and proceeded off the north side of the roadway, then continued into a local pond, disrupting the icy cloak that blanketed its surface. Diving through the wintry chill the second passenger swam to shore, who had managed to extricate himself from the sinking truck and was transported alongside the ejected passenger to McLaren Port Huron Hospital, both were treated for minor injuries, as per FOX 2 Detroit.
The driver was located submerged by the sheriff's office's dive team, he was the subject of lifesaving attempts on the scene before being rushed to McLaren Macomb Hospital.
