A 21-year-old man's life was tragically cut short early Saturday when his vehicle became engulfed in flames following a violent crash in Houston. Houston Police are probing the incident, which took place at the 3200 block of North Loop East around 2:45 a.m.
Details provided by the City of Houston News indicate the driver was behind the wheel of a silver Dodge Ram pickup, hurtling westbound on the North Loop. Losing control as he entered the Eastex North entrance ramp, he rammed into a sign and a guardrail before his truck flipped and landed under a bridge, ultimately catching fire. The young man's identity is pending as officials wait to notify his kin.
Officers assigned to the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer F. Flynn, reported that the male was driving at a high rate of speed and failed to maintain a single lane. The problem compounded when the pickup struck the west side of the ramp's guardrail and shoulder.
Emergency responders from the Houston Fire Department arrived on the scene to find the vehicle already ablaze and pronounce the man deceased. The investigation into this crash that threw a young man's life asunder, extinguishing his flame in the hard Houston night, remains ongoing.
