REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A pedestrian was struck and injured early Wednesday morning while crossing a road in Redford Township. The victim, a 26-year-old man from the area, was crossing Beech Daly Road near Five Mile when he was hit by a northbound vehicle, authorities reported.
The Redford Township Police Department responded to the scene around 6:30 a.m., following a call about the vehicle-pedestrian crash. As confirmed by The Detroit News, the man was traversing a section of the road lacking a crosswalk, which is believed to have increased the risk of the accident occurring.
In a statement obtained by CBS Detroit, the driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and is said to be cooperating with police in their investigation. Thankfully, the injured pedestrian was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover from non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials currently investigating the accident are looking into various factors, such as the absence of proper pedestrian pathways, reportedly.
