Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies have made arrests in the brutal purse snatching incident that left a woman with life-threatening injuries. The robbery took place in a Costco parking lot in the City of Industry, where two brothers, identified as David and Andrew Morrison, are accused of the assault that occurred two months prior, according to KABC. On a November evening, the 37-year-old victim was accosted by the pair as she was loading her car after shopping.
What began as a brazen theft escalated into a violent altercation when the woman fought to keep her purse. The escalation saw her being dragged for nearly 50 feet by the suspects' dark-colored Infiniti QX60, causing her severe facial and head trauma. In an ordeal described by Detective Miguel Meza, "When our victim realized these individuals were taking her purse she tried to stop them [and] grabbed her purse," he said in a November statement obtained by CBS Los Angeles.
Following a month-long investigation, authorities arrested David, 38, and Andrew, 34, in Diamond Bar. During the arrest, detectives recovered the stolen belongings of the victim. According to NBC Los Angeles, detectives are now probing whether the Morrison brothers might be linked to other robberies in the San Gabriel Valley area.
David Morrison's bail was set at $500,000, while his younger brother, Andrew, faces a $600,000 bail amount, per jail records.
