A high-speed merry-go-round chase involving a Suzuki motorcycle and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) came to a conclusion earlier this month.

According to a Facebook post by the CHP Napa division, the high-speed chase that started on New Year's Day saw speeds topping an eye-watering 120 miles per hour. Due to public safety concerns, officers called off the pursuit but didn't just let it ride. The law enforcement wheels kept turning, and after a rigorous investigation with allied agencies, they tracked down the involved motorcycle.

On January 13, the CHP located and legally confiscated the motorcycle with a court order. The Suzuki motorbike was put on ice for 30 days as per the law, showing that actions have consequences, and in this case, they came in the form of a chilly impound stay.

But the CHP didn’t stop at the impound. They took the opportunity to crank out a PSA, reminding people that driving like a bat out of hell can lead to more than just a time-out for your beloved bike. "Please remember to drive the speed limit, obey all traffic laws, and make it to your destination safely," the statement from CHP read. The core mission of the CHP is to give us all safer roads to drive on.
