Dallas is throwing its cowboy hat back into the ring of art and culture with the upcoming 16th edition of the Dallas Art Fair. Taking over the Fashion Industry Gallery this April, the fair is boosting its exhibitor count to 91, a slight uptick from last year's 88. A global affair it seems, with galleries hailing from far-off places like Paris and Berlin, but the locals aren't getting left in the dust either.
The fair has roped in a stampede of Texas talent from Dallas's own 12.26 and Keijsers Koning to Fort Worth's William Campbell Gallery. Austin and Houston spaces like Inman Gallery and Sicardi | Ayers | Bacino also made the cut, while the internationally acclaimed Galerie Max Hetzler plants its flag from Marfa. But it's not all Texas pride – galleries from 17 countries and 49 cities are coming to strut their stuff, according to Glasstire.
While some mainstays like Night Gallery have decided to skedaddle out of this year’s event, making room for new blood. Giving the fair a breath of fresh air are first-timers like Fredericks & Freiser and Sow & Tailor, keepin' the art scene as vibrant as ever.
Fairgoers can mark their calendars for April 4-7. But the party kicks off with a foundation preview benefit and a VIP event on the first day. And for those with a hankering for something local, Dallas-based Pencil on Paper Gallery is saddling up for its first run at the fair, bringing with them the flavors of the city, featuring artists like Jessica Vollrath and Abi Salami, as noted by KERA News.
"The Dallas Art Fair is one of those things that I’ve always loved and I’m excited to actually be in it now," owner Valerie Gillespie said, enthusiastic about showcasing work that embodies healing, self-discovery, and sheer beauty, as per KERA News.
