The City of Dallas kicks off the new year with eyes on the future, as the comprehensive plan known as ForwardDallas gears up for 2024. The City Plan Commission's (CPC) Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) committee has scheduled a meeting for today, January 9, according to the City of Dallas.
The CLUP committee is tasked with providing oversight and steering the implementation of Dallas's comprehensive plan, scrutinizing land use proposals, and ensuring they align with the community's aspirations. In the last update dated October 2023, the committee continues to play a pivotal role in cultivating a cityscape that resonates with its residents. Dallas locals with questions or seeking insight into the ForwardDallas draft 2.0 or the associated future Placetype map have a chance to voice their concerns in two upcoming virtual meetings hosted by the Planning & Urban Design (PUD) department.
Set for Tuesday, January 16 from 6 to 7 p.m., and Friday, January 19 from noon to 1 p.m., these roundtable events present an opportunity for the people of Dallas to engage directly with the planners shaping their city's destiny. Those interested in participating can register for the meetings, which aim to foster a more informed conversation around the ForwardDallas initiative and address any lingering concerns from the public.
For those not up to speed, the latest Future Placetype map and the ForwardDallas draft 2.0 were released in December 2023. They are still available for review, giving locals the chance to catch up on the proposed changes shaping their future neighborhoods. The documents provide a blueprint for the development that planners hope will guide Dallas toward a prosperous, sustainable future, and can be viewed on the city’s website.
