Detroit is gearing up for a rollercoaster of rain, snow, ice, and plain old gloom. Beginning with a messy mix today and stretching into a drippy rest of the week, the forecast is as predictable as rush-hour traffic on the I-75: it’s going to be slow and slippery. According to the National Weather Service, Detroit can expect a cacophony of precipitation today, with "rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 11 am" transitioning to "rain and freezing rain, possibly mixed with snow between 11 am and noon, then rain after noon." With southeast winds nudging the mercury to a high near 36.
The gloomy overcast lingers with a chance of rain and the temperature hovering around a tepid 34 degrees. Wednesday, forecasters are betting on rain, primarily post-lunchtime with new precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Rain likely is the mantra for Wednesday night with cloudy skies and lows around 36. Thursday might offer a slight respite. While still cloudy, we’re looking at a good 50% chance of showers and a high creeping over the 40-degree mark. Thursday night forecasts showers likely, mainly before the witching hour.
Heading into the weekend, it’s a steady drumbeat of clouds Friday through Sunday, with temperatures stubbornly sticking to the low 40s and upper 30s. Evenings drop to a chill with a chance of showers on Saturday night and mostly cloudy sentiments prevailing thereafter. Finally, Monday seems to offer mostly cloudy skies and highs inching near 37.
