Donald P. Wagner has firmly held onto his seat as chairman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors for another term. Striding into 2024 with unanimous backing from his fellow Board members, Wagner, representing the Third District, is noted for having now achieved the milestone of being the first supervisor in a decade to serve as chairman for consecutive terms. His district spans several cities including portions of Anaheim, Irvine, and others along with unincorporated areas.
Looking back on his 20 years in public service, Wagner carries a torch of fiscal responsibility, public safety enhancements, and life quality improvements for residents. "I’m honored to have been unanimously supported to serve as Chairman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors for another year," Wagner said, expressing gratitude for the confidence his colleagues placed in him, according to a statement obtained by the Orange County government's press release. His practiced background as an attorney and seasoned mayor of Irvine from late 2016 to 2019, mirrors this dedicated ethos.
In the same vein, Supervisor Doug Chaffee, serving the communities inclusive of Brea and Fullerton among others, received a unanimous nod of approval to step up as the Vice Chairman for the year. Chaffee is no stranger to leadership within the Board, having already held the helm as chairman in 2022 and vice chairman back in 2021.
"I am truly honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Vice Chairman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors," Chaffee remarked, intent on fostering collective efforts among his Board colleagues to spearhead initiatives enriching the well-being and prosperity of Orange County, as confirmed by the Orange County government's press release. His track record speaks of his invested interest in initiating programs addressing healthcare, and public safety and launching humanitarian efforts like the annual Holiday Food and Toy Distribution, ensuring that free groceries and toys reached thousands of residents.
Last year's initiatives under Chaffee's guidance, such as the Master's of Social Work Stipend Program and the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs, underscore his commitment to tackling the pressing issues faced by the community. As he takes on the role of Vice Chairman once again, one of his major plans is to continue the narrative of kindness and collaboration as cornerstones for a thriving societal fabric.
