Lawrence Osborne, a 48-year-old man, is facing multiple charges after he was caught driving under the influence and carrying a firearm during a routine traffic stop in Fairfield. The Fairfield Police Department revealed that, on the night of January 14, they arrived at the junction of Dover Avenue and Airbase Parkway to attend to a reported collision. Upon investigation, Osborne was found to be impaired behind the wheel.

In a routine search of Osborne's vehicle, officers discovered a firearm in the passenger's compartment. According to the Fairfield Police Department's Facebook Page, Osborne was swiftly arrested and booked on several charges: possession of a controlled substance, carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a loaded firearm, and driving under the influence — the latter of which could potentially combine into one charge if sustained. The post stressed the gravity of his actions, noting, "ANYTIME you get behind the wheel impaired, you present a danger not only to others but also to yourself."

Aside from the DUI charges, Osborne may also face the repercussions for possessing a firearm while intoxicated, which can often carry more severe penalties. Driving with a BAC of .08% or greater further amplifies Osborne's risks and legal stakes.

The Fairfield PD used the incident as a cautionary tale, concluding their statement with a direct plea to the public: “Don’t be that guy - instead save a life! Don’t drink and drive.”
