A Fairfield heist involving a vibrant orange getaway vehicle ended with a woman in cuffs, police say. The suspect, a 21-year-old woman, was nabbed by the Fairfield Police Department after allegedly playing a role in a strong-arm robbery at a retail store.

The incident went down on January 19 at about 3:02 pm when the woman, together with an accomplice, reportedly tried to bolt with six bags of items after only paying for a few at the self-checkout. According to the FPD's Facebook post, when confronted by a store employee, the suspect pushed them aside and fled with her share of the haul. Her male companion took two bags, and they split through separate exits to their conspicuously colored escape car.

But their citrus-colored chariot did little to aid their escape. An alert employee snagged the vehicle's license plate number and turned it over to the authorities. Officer Callison wasted no time and located the vehicular fruit salad, with the female suspect still inside, parked at Pear Tree/Peach Tree intersection.

She was swiftly identified and, according to Fairfield PD, "subsequently arrested, and transported to County Jail." Meanwhile, details on her male counterpart remain as elusive as the specifics of their botched scam. The department has released no further statements about the ongoing investigation or the current whereabouts of the man involved in the orange-tinted takedown.
