Texas Governor Greg Abbott is flying high after his economic development mission to India, and it looks like the Lone Star State could be reaping the benefits. On a trip orchestrated by the Governor's Economic Development & Tourism Office and the Texas Economic Development Corporation, Abbott and his Texas-sized entourage touted the state's thriving economy and rolled out the welcome mat for Indian investments and jobs.
Joining forces with business bigwigs and government gurus, they angled to beef up Texas-India relations, and the governor says they've got "generous hearts" and a shared vision for a "brighter, more prosperous future." They played up the state's track record as the hot spot for Indian companies looking to set up shop in the U.S., and Abbott is banking on these ties holding strong down the line, according to the Office of the Texas Governor.
In the governor's posse were some of the state's heavy hitters, like First Lady Cecilia Abbott, Secretary of State Jane Nelson, and a slew of economic development honchos from the City of Dallas, Frisco, and Houston among others, making clear Texas isn't pulling any punches when it comes to courting overseas partners. The economic expedition underscored Texas' open-for-business mentality, hoping to spark more trade, investment, and job creation from across the Indian subcontinent, as reported by the Office of the Texas Governor.
