Houston law enforcement is on the hunt for a man accused of sexually assaulting a minor. Gilberto Hernandez Moreno, 49, is the subject of a fugitive alert issued by the Houston Police Department and Crime Stoppers. He's wanted for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, specifically alleged crimes involving a youth aged 14 to 17.
The accusation stems from a May 9, 2022, incident in the 10000 block of Haddington Drive, near Memorial City where, the Houston Police officers responded to a report of a child sexual assault. According to the investigation, "the victim made an outcry of sexual abuse and detectives learned that Gilberto Hernandez Moreno sexually assaulted the victim multiple times," as reported by Conroe Today. Moreno is described by police as a Hispanic male, standing 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and weighing 180 pounds.
In efforts to apprehend the suspect, Crime Stoppers has announced they may offer a reward up to $5,000 for information leading to Moreno's capture. The public can submit tips by calling 713-222-TIPS (8477), or through the Crime Stoppers website or mobile app. It's explicitly noted that only tips and calls directly to Crime Stoppers are kept anonymous and are eligible for the financial incentive.
Gilberto Hernandez Moreno's case continues to remind the community of the vigilance needed to protect the most vulnerable. Crime Stoppers highlighted the urgency of the matter, reiterating the potential reward, and ensuring anonymity for those who come forward with any information that could lead to Moreno's charging and/or arrest. Those with tips can reach out in confidence, helping to possibly close a chapter for the victim, and holding those accountable to justice, as detailed by FOX 26 Houston.
