A Houston man has been arrested after deputies say he lied to police about being assaulted. On January 14, Carlos Gil-Vidoza claimed he had been targeted in a weapon-wielding attack. Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office were swiftly on the scene in the 3800 block of Coltwood Drive, following up on Gil-Vidoza's report of a dangerous confrontation.
The investigation quickly turned the tables on Gil-Vidoza when officers found the accused aggressor to be a 70-year-old man challenged by mobility issues and unlikely to have been involved in such a crime. Officials were able to determine that the supposed attacker could hardly walk, let alone carry out the assault as described by Gil-Vidoza.
Gil-Vidoza's attempt to deceive law enforcement led to his arrest. He was charged with false reporting to a police officer. In a statement posted on Facebook, Constable Mark Herman announced Gil-Vidoza's incarceration. "Carlos Gil-Vidoza was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with false reporting to a police officer. His bond was set at $100.00 out of County Court 13," said Herman.
