A high-speed crash has left one man dead and another injured after a Tesla slammed into a stopped vehicle and a parking garage wall in Houston late yesterday.
According to the City of Houston's news release, the crash happened at around 11:20 p.m. at the intersection of Jefferson Street and La Branch. A black Tesla S, traveling at what is believed to be a high velocity, lost control, collided with a gray Toyota Highlander that was stationary at a red light, before careening off the road.
The male driver of the Tesla, 42, was declared dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics, his identity is still pending release pending, notification of his kin by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The Tesla's passenger survived, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries and is being treated at Ben Taub General Hospital.
Occupants of the Toyota, hit in the violent event escaped physical harm. Houston Police Department Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer T. Syed are leading the ongoing inquiry into the circumstances of the incident, the city's news desk revealed. No charges have been reported thus far, as officials work to unravel the sequence that led to the horrific scene on Jefferson Street.
