Tragedy struck on a Houston freeway Wednesday morning, as firefighters uncovered the body of an unidentified man post-blaze at 9605 Southwest Freeway. According to the City of Houston's official news site, the chilling discovery was made around 9 a.m., after emergency services responded to a fire at what is also known as South U.S. Highway 59.
Awaiting the results of an autopsy, police at present cannot confirm the man's identification or the exact circumstances leading to his death, that after the fire was extinguished, found was the body. The Houston Police Department's (HPD) Homicide Division, helmed by Detectives V. Nguyen and J. Flores, is spearheading the investigation. Upon extinguishing the fire, it was Houston Fire Department emergency personnel who initially stumbled upon the grim scene, which has since prompted further inquiry.
