
Houston authorities are delving into a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a young woman in an apartment complex on Dunvale Street yesterday evening. The Houston Police Department, probing the incident which took place around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, have yet to officially release the woman's identity pending formal verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
According to the City of Houston's news release, responding HPD patrol officers discovered the 23-year-old victim unresponsive with at least one gunshot wound. The paramedics from the Houston Fire Department swiftly transported her to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, but she was ultimately pronounced dead. Detectives with the HPD's Homicide Division are actively to follow leads on the case.
Investigators are considering the victim’s ex-boyfriend as a person of interest in this tragic incident, though he has not yet been located or charged. It remains a critical period for the detectives, A. Finlay and L. Kauffman, as they piece together the circumstances that led to the fatal event.
