Houston authorities are on the hunt for a suspect following the chilling discovery of a man fatally stabbed on a METRO Rail car, police announced today. The incident occurred around 9:10 p.m. yesterday at 4500 Main Street, according to the City of Houston News. Officials have released surveillance photos depicting a man believed to have been involved in the deadly altercation.

The man sought is described as a possible Hispanic, around 5 feet 5 inches tall, sporting dark hair, a dark windbreaker jacket, and a ball cap while he was carrying a black backpack. Images from surveillance footage provide the clearest look yet at who police are looking for, and the authorities are appealing for the public's help. The identity of the victim, a 53-year-old man, is still being confirmed by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Detectives from the HPD Homicide Division, C. LaFour and J. Diaz, were dispatched in response to an initial disturbance call between two males on the METRO Rail line platform at 1900 Main Street. Upon arrival and after searching the area without locating either individual, the officers were redirected to the stabbing victim found in a rail car nearly quarter-mile away by the Wheeler Avenue stop. There, they discovered the victim unresponsive on the floor, later pronounced dead at the scene.

In what appears to be an isolated incident between the two males, investigators are piecing together the events that led to the homicide. All available evidence, including a surveillance photo of the suspect, is being examined meticulously. With an active manhunt underway, the HPD has provided an avenue for those with information on the suspect's identity, urging contact with the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600, or to remain anonymous, providing tips to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
