A woman suspected of a hit and run and subsequently biting an arresting officer has been thrown behind bars. The deputies responded to a crash on the 12700 block of T C Jester Boulevard on the evening of January 3, where they found the suspect, Lynda Watson, displaying "multiple signs of intoxication" in her vehicle, stopped in a moving lane of traffic, the Harris County Constable's Office reports.
The incident escalated when Watson was subjected to Sobriety Tests, confirming the deputy's initial suspicion. Following her failure of the tests, the arrest took a violent turn, as Constable Mark Herman said in his Official Facebook page, "While in custody, she bit the arresting officer." Watson now faces charges for Driving while Intoxicated and Assault of a Peace Officer.
"Lynda Watson was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Assault of a Peace Officer. She is awaiting bond out of the 230th District Court and County Court 14," Constable Herman stated, as Watson sits in a cell, with the biting accusation adding a grim note to her record.
The court has not yet set a date for a hearing, and the name of the bitten officer has not been disclosed. With Watson accused, the constable deputy, having suffered a bite wound in the line of duty, underscores the unpredictable and hazardous nature of law enforcement work. The severity of the officer's injury has not been made public record.
