
A woman has been arrested and charged after a shooting that left her brother in a critical condition, according to Houston Police.
The incident occurred early Tuesday morning at 12114 Tambourine Drive, where at around 5:25 a.m., a 26-year-old man was shot and immediately required hospitalization for his critical injuries, according to the City of Houston news release. The accused, Yaquelin Artiga-Rosales, 30, allegedly pulled the trigger, and made the call to 9-1-1 confessing to her actions.
Artiga-Rosales now faces a charge of aggravated assault of a family member. She has been processed through the legal systems and is currently being held, her mugshot circulated in conjunction with the release.
Houston Police Department's Major Assaults & Family Violence Division's Detective M. Deleon shed light on the details of the arrest, "Artiga-Rosales shot her brother and then called 9-1-1 and informed police she was the person responsible for the shooting," according to the department's release. Upon arrival, HPD patrol officers reportedly detained Artiga-Rosales without any additional incident, and managed to recover the weapon thought to be used in the shooting.
