A Houston woman has been charged with the murder of an 18-year-old whose body was discovered at a local bayou, authorities said. Shania Laneice Turner, 24, stands accused of ending the life of victim Tierra Horn, who was found dead near 1900 Nance Street one week ago.
Horn’s body was located about 5:40 p.m. on January 5, by patrol officers, homicide detectives, and Harris County Precinct 6 Constable deputies during a search near the bayou. She was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities confirmed. An autopsy later ruled Horn's death a homicide, identifying the cause as murder.
Turner was arrested on Thursday and charged with Horn's murder in the 232nd State District Court. According to a news release from the Houston Police Department, Turner is currently booked into the Harris County Jail. The investigation eventually pointed to Turner as the culprit behind the grim deed.
Sergeant C. Ponder and Detectives K. Stringer and A. Graf of the HPD Homicide Division led the investigation that culminated in Turner's apprehension. As the judicial process inches forward, the suspect’s booking photo has been made available to the public, blanketing the incident with a face, an anchor to the abstract crime.
