An injured hiker in Annadel State Park was saved in a dramatic rescue operation yesterday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol's Golden Gate Division Air Operations, in conjunction with Sonoma County Fire, rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the hiker's distress.
According to the CHP Golden Gate Division Air Ops Facebook page, CHP H-30 flew into action, meticulously scouring the South Burma Trail until the injured party was located. The rescue team faced an arduous challenge, as the hiker was found on a narrow, single-track portion of the trail. Despite this, a CHP officer was lowered roughly 135 feet to reach and secure the hiker into a rescue harness, orchestrating a hoist to an ambulance that awaited her conveyance.
The swift efforts of the responders assured that the woman was promptly delivered to the embrace of medical professionals, ensuring she received the necessary care. She was subsequently transported by Sonoma County Fire to a local hospital for treatment. The current condition of the hiker has not been released, however, the collaboration between the agencies was key in averting a potentially dire outcome.
