A scare at Kingwood High School led to a lockdown Monday morning after a reported fight raised concerns that one of the students involved might have brought a weapon to the Houston-area campus. Principal Michael Nasra alerted parents in a message about the situation, which kicked off after the Houston Police Department received a tip at approximately 10:15 a.m., the Houston Chronicle reported.

Initial reports of the altercation between two students indicated that there was a threat of a shooting, which prompted police from Houston PD and Humble ISD to jump into action, HPD information officer Jodi Silva said that no weapons were found upon locating the students involved, debunking rumors that spread quickly through Humble ISD parent groups claiming the contrary, as confirmed by Silva in statements.

The lockdown, which lasted for around an hour, caused alarm among the nearly 2,900 students and their families but was eventually lifted after the thorough investigation by authorities ensured that the campus was safe. During this tense period, the normal hustle of the school day at 2701 Kingwood Drive was brought to a standstill, until Humble ISD confirmed the absence of any actual threat.

After the incident, the lockdown was lifted and no weapons were found on the premises which allowed for a return to regular school activities as per the school district's statement, KIAH reported.
