Los Angeles residents are looking at a mix of weather conditions over the next week, with the sunny skies today set to turn into a series of wet and possibly stormy days ahead. According to the National Weather Service, after a calm and mostly sunny day with highs around 67, rain is expected to hit the city tonight, forecasted to start after 10 pm and potentially heavy at times. The east-southeast winds are anticipated to reach speeds between 10 to 15 mph, with gusts that could hit 20 mph. The chance of precipitation stands at 80%, and new rainfall could total up to an inch.
As we move into Thursday, the rainfall is set to continue, with predictions of rain before 10 am followed by showers and possibly a thunderstorm. "The rain could be heavy at times," with a chance that some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall, reports the National Weather Service. High temperatures will likely drop slightly to near 62 degrees. It's a sure bet for umbrellas as the chance of precipitation is pegged at 100%, with new rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Thursday night will bring a continuation of potential showery and stormy conditions. Although the chance of precipitation is decreased to 50%, the weather service warns that new precipitation amounts could be less than a tenth of an inch, except possibly higher in thunderstorms.
Looking towards the weekend, Californians can expect a shift back to sunny skies with a high near 60 degrees on Friday. For those planning a night out, Friday evening looks mostly clear with lows around 43 degrees. The pleasant weather is expected to carry over to Saturday, with mostly sunny conditions and highs similarly near 60 degrees. However, the night may bring a slight chance of rain, with mostly cloudy skies and a low of around 47 degrees. Sunday's forecast calls for another chance of rain, as does the outlook for Monday and Tuesday, with rain likely and highs hovering near the 60-degree mark.
