A tragic car accident in Valley Glen has left one person dead and several injured, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The collision occurred on January 6th around 12:51 PM on Woodman Avenue, involving two vehicles and resulting in six people being injured, one of whom was a child, as well as two people being trapped in the wreckage before firefighters could free them, five of the injured parties were transported to local hospitals with two in critical condition one individual declined transportation, as reported by the LAFD ALERT.

Adding to the details, KABC reported that a Lexus traveling northbound on Woodman Avenue struck another vehicle, subsequently hitting two parked cars and a telephone pole, the front passenger of the Lexus was pronounced dead at the scene, the driver was taken to the hospital in unknown condition, and another passenger faced facial injuries, with authorities suggesting that speed may have been a factor in the crash. The driver's condition is still unknown and the passenger with facial injuries is expected to recover, details about the accident are still under investigation as speed is suspected to be a contributing cause KABC reported.

FOX 11 provided a harrowing account from Angel Russell, a resident who narrowly avoided the collision by seconds as she was preparing for her daughter's play date, "I heard a screech, and then I see… I looked up and see the white car lose control," Russell said, describing how she threw herself to the ground to protect her child. She also attempted to aid the victims trapped in the white car by opening the door, only to witness their bodies slump over, Russell explained, "It was a lot of blood. I didn't touch (them), I backed up at that point and said ‘don’t touch them, we don't know what their injuries are. Call 911, someone call 911,'" Russell is quoted in the touching account of the event obtained by FOX 11.

Furthermore, residents have expressed concerns over the safety of the stretch of road where the accident occurred with one local, Tim Cadwallader bringing to light the persistent dangers, "people drive way too fast on this road they try to beat the light, and it's just a mess all the time," he noted, reflecting the broader concern residents feel over the traffic conditions in the area the affected family in the truck that was also hit during the event, and helped to shield Russell and her daughter from further harm are expected to survive.
