After more than a quarter-century on the force, Senior Quarter Master Assistant Janice Alexander has decided to hang up her badge and enjoy the quieter chapters of life. On January 6, Alexander marked her last day with the Plano Police Department, stepping into retirement with commendations and the respect of her colleagues in her wake, according to the Plano Texas Police Department.
Her journey with the department started back in September 1997, when Alexander began as an Alarms Assistant. A steady climb up the ranks took her to the Criminal Investigative Services Division in January 2000 as a Police Records Assistant, a role she held for nearly 14 years before a transfer to the Quartermaster Unit in October 2013, and her promotion to Senior Quartermaster Assistant in November 2021 was the icing on, a storied career.
Alexander's tenure was distinguished by numerous commendations, and accolades including multiple Chiefs Unit Awards, Safe Driving Awards, and a Civic Achievement Award, celebrating her steadfast commitment and the exemplary work she demonstrated at the department.
With the blues and twos now part of her past, retirement brings with it the promise of cherished family time, crafts, the joy of a good book, and well-deserved rest. "Janice Alexander, we thank you for all your service and dedication," the Plano Police Department expressed in their heartfelt farewell. They continue, "We wish you well in your future endeavors and hope you enjoy your retirement", per the Plano Texas Police Department.
