A bicyclist was left with major injuries after being struck by a car in Simi Valley, the local police department reports. The hit-and-run incident occurred on January 4 at around 7:50 PM near the intersection of Stearns St. and Los Angeles Ave. Authorities are now fiercely searching for the driver of a gold Toyota sedan believed to be from the late '90s or early 2000s, which likely sustained significant front-end damage during the collision.
The investigation, being led by Officer Martinez of the Simi Valley Police Department, has revealed that the bicyclist was attempting to quickly cross Los Angeles Ave when they were hit by the eastbound vehicle. With scant details on the driver's identity, the police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that might assist in resolving the case.
Witnesses at the scene could only provide a vague description of the vehicle, but enough to spark a lookout for the damaged Toyota. The Simi Valley Police Department urges anyone with information or video footage of the incident to reach out. In an official statement, Officer Martinez stressed the need for community assistance: "The Simi Valley Police Department is requesting anyone with information or video of this tragic incident to contact Traffic Collision Investigator Martinez at (805) 583-6224 or via email at [email protected]."
The identity of the injured cyclist has not been released, and details about their condition remain limited.
