Warm up those vocal cords because it's showtime at the Dell Diamond this summer. The Round Rock Express is putting out the call for performers looking to belt out the "Star-Spangled Banner" before a crowd of baseball fans. Auditions are set to take the stage on Feb. 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and it's free of charge for individuals and groups smaller than a baseball team, according to KXAN.

Hopefuls are invited to step up to the plate at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions to impress a panel of judges in the Kilimanjaro Ballroom Suite #1. Be prepared to hit it out of the park with a traditional rendition of the national anthem; creativity might win you Instagram followers, but here, it’s about respecting the stripes and stars, as performers will be expected to stick to a military style sans the frills. Auditions, whether you're going acapella or instrumental, can't run longer than 90 seconds — a snippet in time, but potentially a lasting memory if you score a spot. Groups boasting more than 10 members are to reach out directly to Colin Perry of the Round Rock Express to schedule an alternative audition time, as reported by KVUE.
If stage fright strikes or if you're out of town, no worries. You've still got a shot via video submission. These are only reviewed after all the live auditions wrap up, so if you're itching for instant feedback, better clear your schedule. Laurie Winckel, owner of Vocal Edge Studio and a judge with an ear for what makes or breaks a national anthem performance, is offering a free lifeline—a Zoom workshop scheduled on Feb. 3. Interested singers can shoot an email to [email protected] to claim a spot in the virtual class, as per KVUE.
