Police officers in Santa Rosa nabbed a loaded firearm during a routine traffic stop on Wednesday, peeling back the veil on a small arsenal of illegal weapons. According to a news release from the Santa Rosa Police Department, the stop was made near the intersection of Santa Rosa Ave and Hearn Ave after officers noted an expired vehicle registration on a white Camero. The driver, Isaiah Cook, was found to have outstanding warrants and was driving on a suspended license.
The situation rapidly escalated when officers discovered not only narcotics paraphernalia, but also an unloaded Colt .25 handgun and a loaded "Poly 80" 9 mm handgun cunningly hidden within the vehicle’s engine compartment. Despite her attempt to conceal, the passenger, Lydia Jones, couldn't evade the officers' thorough search, which revealed more illegal items among her belongings. The pressing of a diligent investigation freshly authored a search warrant for the duo's residence.
At the pair's home on Lombardi Lane, a loaded 9mm Glock model 19 handgun was found in Cook’s bedroom during the warrant's execution. Cook, a previously convicted felon prohibited from owning firearms, was booked on multiple felony weapons charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. Jones faced her own set of felony and misdemeanor charges related to illegal weapon possession.
