The streets of Eastland Street were riddled with violence last October, and now, a second suspect has been cuffed for the murder of a 49-year-old man, police said. Jeremi Orange, 21, found himself behind bars, charged with murder in connection to the deadly shooting that claimed the life of Soldem Harris, confirmed the Houston police.

In the harrowing daylight incident that unfolded on October 9, 2023, around 2:40 p.m., Harris was peppered with bullets following a physical skirmish in a convenience store parking lot, the HPD stated, their swift response to the scene allowed them to deliver first aid until paramedics from Houston Fire Department took over, but the victim's wounds proved fatal once at Ben Taub General Hospital, he was pronounced dead, and in the days that followed, the first suspect Javunte Jerome Bradshaw, 30, was roped into the case thanks to surveillance snaps that led to his charge and then arrest during a traffic stop on November 27 on Safebuy Street, items found on his person led to additional charges.

After the takedown of Bradshaw, the law enforcement's investigation continued full steam ahead, digging into the evidence and testimonies that revealed Jeremi Orange's alleged role in the brutal act; it was he who supposedly passed the handgun to Bradshaw mere moments before the fatal shots were fired, the Houston police said. The fact-finding process culminated in Orange's arrest on January 5, after the Harris County District Attorney’s Office gave the green light for the murder charge, detailed in a press release.

HPD's Homicide Division, with Sergeant W. Dunn and Detective J. Gardner at the helm, is piecing together the events leading up to the ill-fated confrontation. Bradshaw and Orange, now both face serious time in the 487th State District Court if convicted. Booking photos of the suspects have been released in conjunction with the Houston police's news release.
