Chaos unfurled at a local McDonald's when a man decided to turn the golden arches into his personal dining room. On January 5th, deputies rushed to the scene at a McDonald's restaurant on East Richey Road after reports of a disturbance. According to Constable Mark Herman's Office, when law enforcement arrived, they discovered chaos with the employees cowering in a freezer and the suspect, named Ernest Polk, helping himself to a meal in the kitchen area.

Upon investigation, it was found that Polk had allegedly harassed the McDonald's employees before wreaking havoc on the property. Harassed and feared for their safety, the staff took refuge in the freezer. The suspect was apprehended and was found to have stolen identification items and personal belongings from the McDonald's employees. Compounding his troubles, Polk also had two open Misdemeanor Warrants against him.

"Ernest Polk II was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the open warrants and was charged with Possession of Identification Items. His bond was set at $2,000.00 out of the 183rd District Court," according to a statement obtained by Precinct 4's Facebook page. The incident left the fast-food staff shaken but unharmed.

The arrest of Polk brings a concerning reminder of the vulnerability of workers in service positions, often exposed to unpredictable and sometimes dangerous behaviors from the public they serve. As he continues to eat, the charges Polk now faces including both the open warrants and new accusations, his bond could serve as a temporary barrier to his return to society. The employees, hidden in the freezer, were eventually able to come out safely, but not without psychological scars from the ordeal.
