A suspect's botched attempt to dupe law enforcement by providing a bogus name didn’t fool deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office, leading to an arrest at a movie theater on the Northwest Freeway. The misstep occurred on January 3, according to the authorities.
The incident unfolded when officers were called to the 29000 block of Northwest Freeway in response to an alarm. There, they encountered a group of men inside the movie theater, including one who attempted to deceive the officers with a false identity. However, the subterfuge was fleeting, as deputies soon uncovered the true identity of the individual.
After conducting a thorough investigation, the deputies identified the male as Rene Lopez, a name which carried with it the weight of three open Misdemeanor Warrants. His unsuccessful attempt to hide in plain sight behind an assumed name pushed the officers to book him on additional charges.
"Rene Lopez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the open warrants and charged with Failure to Identity to a Police Officer - Fugitive. His bond was set at $100.00 out of County Court 4," stated Constable Mark Herman, providing the details of the aftermath in a recent Facebook post.
