A suspected drunk driver sparked havoc on a Houston parkway, leading to a serious collision and his subsequent arrest for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Officials say that Sidney Pomonis was the man behind the wheel causing the major crash on the evening of January 21, 2024, in the 300 block of N Sam Houston Pkwy E.
According to Constable Mark Herman's Office, Pomonis exhibited multiple signs that he was inebriated following the accident. When deputies arrived at the scene, the driver was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he refused. Herman’s office detailed that a warrant was subsequently issued and executed to obtain a blood specimen to check his blood alcohol content.
The outcome of the tests is not yet known, but the refusal to undertake the sobriety tests, coupled with other evidence at the scene, was enough for law enforcement to take Pomonis into custody. He was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and is now facing the legal consequences of his actions.
"Sidney Pomonis was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated. His bond was set at $100.00 out of County Court 4." Herman's office stated in the post.
