The State of Texas business community is getting a leg up on legal expertise and labor laws thanks to the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), which just dropped dates for the annual Texas Conference for Employers. Slated to kick off next month, the conference aims to educate employers on the ABCs of employment law and managing a workforce.
Starting in February, Texas bosses can pick up pearls of wisdom on running a tight ship. Joe Esparza, TWC Commissioner Representing Employers, says, "Texas employers are poised to thrive and expand in 2024." In a statement released by TWC, Esparza also insisted that by sinking their teeth into these sessions, business owners can snag "practical, timely information" for a booming enterprise. They'll also pick up the skinny on how to handle their staff with more finesse.
Whether you're a mom-and-pop shop or the head honcho of a more sprawling operation, the TWC is rolling out the red carpet, urging every employer under the Texan sun to dive into this annual knowledge fest. According to the details laid out by the TWC, you'll find everything on the menu from hiring tips to navigating unemployment claims.
This year's lineup, running through September, is chock-full of virtual and brick-and-mortar settings, with the inaugural event perched in Mesquite on February 2nd. Firing up the conference circuit, break-out sessions are locked and loaded with heavy hitters like drug testing, wage law, and even navigating privacy in the digital workplace. To view the list of confirmed locations and register, visit the TWC's event page to sign up.
And for those wanting to tally up some extra credits while they're at it, the Society for Human Resource Management Texas State Council, or Texas SHRM, is shaking hands with TWC to make it worth your while. Lawyers can bank up to six hours of mandatory credit, with CPAs and other professionals also getting a shot at bolstering their resumes.
