Three culprits were caught red-handed after breaking into a Larkfield home this past Sunday, in an event swiftly pieced together through the vigilance of multiple law enforcement bodies. In a statement provided by the Sonoma Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a burglary in progress at around 1:40 p.m. on the 5000 block of Dempsey Place. A resident, who wasn't home at the time, reported the ongoing crime after observing the suspects via her home security system pilfer various valuables and flee the scene.
The suspects, identified as Juan Carlos Cuevas Rosales, 31, of Long Beach, CA, Jean-Paul Pulido, 19, of Los Angeles, CA, and an unnamed minor, seemed to have had their spree cut short due to a keen observation made earlier in the day. A Cotati Police officer, aware of an attempted burglary in Cotati that bore similarities, provided a critical description of the suspect car. A countywide alert ensued, prompting a watchful response from law enforcers on the lookout for the burglars.
Within just over an hour, luck ran out for the trio when a CHP officer nabbed the criminals north of Hopland in Mendocino County. As detailed on the Sonoma Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Cuevas Rosales now faces charges including felony burglary, conspiracy, and receiving stolen property, and sits behind bars on a steep $250,000 bail. His accomplice, Pulido, was slapped with similar charges and a $200,000 bail. The juvenile involved has been processed into juvenile hall, with further details withheld due to his age.
This burglary bust reflects more than just a string of charges—it underscores the seamless cooperation between the Sonoma Sheriff's Office, Cotati Police, and California Highway Patrol. As the Sonoma Sheriff's Office described, "This is another example of outstanding teamwork between law enforcement agencies. We are always working together to keep you safe." The case, now etched in the logs of law enforcement under number 240128010, is a sobering reminder of community vulnerability, and an affirmation of the protection unity provides.
