A Vallejo man's alleged road rage antics landed him in the slammer, the California Highway Patrol revealed. Colt Thomas Baldwin, 39, is accused of brandishing a gun during a heated incident last October on Interstate 80 (I-80) in Fairfield and was arrested on Wednesday under serious felony charges.
The drama unfolded on Oct. 17, 2023, when CHP officers rushed to a section of I-80 eastbound near Abernathy Road after receiving reports of a man flaunting a firearm in public. Detectives from the CHP's Golden Gate Division Investigative Services Unit, with the help of the Solano Area officers, zeroed in on Baldwin following the incident. On January 17, Baldwin's home was swarmed by a crew from the CHP Warrant Service Team, CHP ISU, alongside Solano County deputies with warrants ready to go, as stated in a post on the CHP - Golden Gate Division Facebook page.
While searching Baldwin's residence, officers hit pay dirt, unearthing "items of evidentiary value" linked to the road rage case. The subsequent arrest saw Baldwin booked on a quartet of charges: brandishing a firearm, illegal gun, and ammo possession due to his felon status and having a loaded gun on hand. His new digs are now at the Solano County Jail.
